It’s officially Summer, technically the hot dry season in the Philippines. After Holy week, which gave us a long-weekend off work, we’re back this April with so much things to do. Nevertheless, there are still some reasons to celebrate especially because this month, events are everywhere.
Here are some of the major happenings this April 2015 that we’ve listed for you.
There’s more to Medellin than just the beaches. There are heritage sites and adventure zones yet to be discovered in this beautiful place. This April, triathletes will have the chance to encounter a new route that would highlight the beauty of Medellin.
April 25 – Kadaugan Cosplay 2015
If you missed Otaku Fest last February, you might want to attend another event similarly filled with fictional characters especially anime characters coming to life. For cosplayers, prepare your costumes and gears for a cosplay competition where cash prizes await the winners.
April 25 and 26 – Island Sound 2015
In celebration of Kadaugan sa Mactan, a two-day spectacle will give life to the streets of Lapu-Lapu City. Featuring 21 of the Best DJs of Cebu and Manila, Island Sound ‘Foam Flow’ and ‘Colour Party’ will give you the ultimate festival feels.
The annual reenactment of Kadaugan sa Mactan is also a must-watch on April 27. This year, Daniel Matsunaga will portray the role of Datu Lapu-Lapu while Venus Raj and Carlos Agassi will be Reyna Bulakna and Magellan, respectively.
There’s also Threadfest Kadaugan Street Party on April 26.
April 28 – 450th Kaplag
This 2015, the Augustinian priests in Cebu will hold the celebration ‘Kaplag’ where the church commemmorates the recovery of the image of the infant Jesus after it went missing for several years. The Cebuano word Kaplag actually means finding. Kaplag also marks the 450th year of the Augustinians in the Philippines as well as the 50th year anniversary of the elevation of Santo Nino Church to a minor Basilica.
April 10 – International Academy of Film and Television Open House
An aspiring filmaker or 3D animator? Here’s a rare chance of knowing the fundamentals of producing, directing, writing and cinematography from the experts. In this one-day open house event, experience being a student in IAFT Cebu for free.
