Cebu is definitely a melting pot of talents. From the music scene to art galleries, we sure have a lot to be proud of. And, what better way to let the world know what you can do than to show it.
Clothes for Life, a foundation initiated by Joy Bernaldez, in furthering its intent to support Cebuano talent has once again opened the competition for this year’s search for aspiring designers.
The 2011 Cebu Young Designers Competition is open to designers, aged 18 years old to 30 years old. The competition is divided into two categories, specifically the Apparel Division and the Accessories Division. All entries should revolve around this year’s chosen theme, Asiatropic Style. The theme aims to showcase and introduce the “confidence and character of a New Asia” by way of fashion.
Six finalists for the Apparel Division and five for the Accessories Division will be chosen from all entries submitted for the competition. The finalists will be chosen by a selection panel, and the finalists will move on to compete in this year’s competition.
Entries should be submitted on or before 5:00 p.m., on February 19, 2011, to the studios of either Salvador Malto, Protacio, Cary Santiago, or Wendell Quisido.
The contest proper will be held on April 9, 2011, at the Northwing of SM City Cebu. The finalists will be judged by an international panel of individuals who have made their names in the fields of design and journalism.
